Meridian Massages
Meridians are the channels or pathways that carry Qi, the life force and vital energy, and blood through the body.  They are not blood vessels.  Rather, they comprise an invisible lattice that links together all the fundamental textures and organs.  The meridians move the Qi and blood, regulate Yin and Yang, moisten the tendons and bones, and benefit the joints.

Traditional Chinese medicine views the meridians as a network connecting the interior with the exterior:  the internal organs with the surface of the body, tissue with spirit, and Yin with Yang.

The meridian system consists mainly of Twelve Organ Meridians.  The Twelve meridians form pairs:  Heart/Small Intestine; Lung/Large Intestine; Pericardium/Triple Heater; Spleen/Stomach; Liver/Gall Bladder; Bladder/Kidney

Meridians flow throughout the body and influence many aspects of our health.  Each meridian can have a profound influence on the organ it flows through.  Meridian theory assumes that disorder within a meridian generates a block in the pathway and creates disharmony along that meridian, or that such a block is a result of a disharmony of the meridian’s connecting organ.  The meridians can also have their own symptoms that are unrelated to the organs for which they are named.  As examples, the kidney meridian is often associated with hearing and hair loss.  The stomach meridian may be associated with upper toothaches, while lower toothaches may associate with the lung meridian.  The meridian pathways flow through certain areas of the body, which can become blocked and cause problems.

The function of the meridian is to provide circulation of Qi throughout the body, thus nourishing the tissues and linking up the whole body.  The goal of the meridian massage is to rebalance the body back to a whole health.

Massage Therapy
There is much historical evidence to indicate that massage was one of the earliest remedial practices for relief of pain and for the restoration of healthy body functions.  Massage has direct psychological and physiological benefits.

Physically, massage increases metabolism, hastens healing, relaxes and refreshes the muscles, and improves the detoxifying functions of the lymphatic system.  Massage helps to prevent muscle cramps and spasms, assists the digestive process and assimilation of nutrients, as well as improving the circulation of blood to all body systems.

Psychologically, massage relieves fatigue, reduces tension, calms the nervous system and promotes a sense of relaxation and renewed energy.

Conditions Generally Relieved by Massage:
-Tension is relieved in muscles.  With the release of tension there is a lessening of stress, and the client feels better able to cope.
-Mental and physical fatigue is relieved, leading to renewed energy and ambition.
-Pain in the shoulders, neck and back usually caused by strain is relieved.
-Muscles and joints become more supple.  Soreness and stiffness are relieved.
-Enhances muscle tone and increases range of motion.
-Circulation is improved
-Digestion, assimilation and elimination problems are often corrected.
-Headaches and eyestrain are often relieved.
-Body metabolism is improved
-Muscular spasms are relieved.
-Increased circulation of nourishing blood to the skin and other parts of the body encourages healing.
-Mental strain is reduced resulting in better productivity.
-Renewed sense of confidence and control is experienced.

BodyTalk
The BodyTalk System is a safe, non-invasive, fast, and effective health care modality that addresses the body in a truly integrative and holistic way.

The BodyTalk practitioner recognizes that the bodymind complex functions as a synchronicity and acknowledges that poor health is an indication that the body’s innate wisdom, to heal and maintain synchronicity within the body, is in need of enhancement.

BodyTalk is a stand-alone system that can be used to treat many health care problems.  It can be seamlessly integrated into any health care program, increasing its effectiveness and promoting faster healing and recovery.  BodyTalk’s major assets are simplicity, safety, speed of results and effectiveness.

How BodyTalk Works
The BodyTalk System recognizes that within each of us there lies an innate knowing of who we are and what makes our bodies work, referred to as innate wisdom.  This innate wisdom carries the answers to our physical and mental dilemmas and is addressed in the following way:

The BodyTalk System facilitates communication with the innate wisdom of the body by using neuromuscular biofeedback.  This innate wisdom thus provides accurate guidelines with regards to the bodymind complex’s requirements for optimum health. By following a comprehensive protocol of questions, the BodyTalk practitioner can establish exactly what balancing the body needs in order to harmonize bodymind function.  This involves finding out which organs, endocrines, or body parts need to be connected to heal communication between them at the physiological, biochemical, circulatory, nervous, emotional and or energy levels.
When an imbalance is found, the areas are contacted with the client and/or practitioner’s hand.  While the links are being held, the practitioner gently taps on the head, and then over the heart complex.  Tapping on the head enables the innate wisdom to register these links to the brain, which enhances the overall integral functioning and communication within the body.  Tapping on the heart complex stores these changes, this ensures that the new balance is held in deep memory and is therefore lasting. The innate wisdom and healing function inherent in the body is enhanced on all levels-physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Clinical results have shown that once the communication systems of the body have been re-established and the bodymind complex synchronized, the body is capable of healing itself at a deep and lasting level.

BodyTalk does not diagnose and is not a replacement therapy for medical care when indicated.

What BodyTalk Helps
BodyTalk has proven to be very effective in addressing many common, and some not so common, diseases.  As the body becomes “balanced”, functions of every part of the body and mind improve.  This means that the immune system will start to eliminate chronic and acute viruses, bacteria, parasites and toxins.  Re-establishment of the mind / body balance reduces and can eliminate allergies and emotional and psychological disorders.  It also improves posture and coordination, digestion and elimination, brain functions, learning disorders, and states of distorted consciousness in the form of negative belief systems and attitudes.

BodyTalk addresses diseases such as arthritis, chronic fatigue, stress, headaches, phobias, sports injuries, emotional and psychological disorders, viruses, parasites, learning disorders, digestive disorders, dyslexia and many others.

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key)
Reiki energy is “universal life-force energy” and is extremely powerful healing energy.  As the Reiki Practitioner holds her hands at various parts of the body, she directs the energy through the seven main chakras to enhance physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being.

It can be used as a stand alone or complimentary modality.  It does not interfere with traditional medical treatment or conflict with any other health care modality, but enhances the results.  Reiki speeds the healing process.

Seven Main Chakras
The seven main chakras are the energy centers located along the center of the body.  Through the seven chakras, people give off and receive essential energy between the physical and subtle bodies.  A person’s feelings filter down through the chakras to the physical body, where they become outer manifestations.  Chakras influence, emotionally and physically, every part and function of the person.  Each chakra governs a gland in the physical body, controlling specific physical organs as well as all aspects of consciousness.  Therefore, it is possible to see how physical symptoms relate to potential areas of energy imbalance.

Chakra Example:  Throat Chakra
Influences:  Thyroid, lungs, respiratory system, throat, mouth, vocal chords.

Healing Benefits:  Helps alleviate depression, thyroid problems, hair loss, abnormal weight gain or loss, problems with metabolism, and any related problems associated with area mentioned under influences.

A balance within the chakras results in optimal health and vitality.  It is through the chakra network that the mind, body and spirit interact as one holistic system.  Damage to one of the chakras through trauma, injury, emotional conflict or other means manifests as dysfunction in the related areas of the physical body.  Thus, disease results.

All chakras are based on sensitivity to subtle energy.  This idea of subtle energy is becoming more widely recognized and accepted within Western medicine.  As a matter of fact, there is an organization called the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energy Medicine, whose membership is made up of medical doctors, veterinarians, scientists, and alternative healers who work specifically with subtle energy.  These types and ideas of healing include acupuncture, reiki and homeopathy.

Tai Chi
A key factor in maintaining health...reestablishes communications between all the systems and body parts.  The body can synchronize and adapt to the stresses of life, and heal.

"Consideration...recognizes that the health of your unique bodymind needs to be addressed at the level most suited to your needs and level of understanding".

"Even the poorest quality tai chi practice, done steadfast, will nourish the body and mind and give you one of the most inexpensive and satisfying meals you'll ever encounter.”
- TAI CHI Health for Life, Bruce Frantzis

Tai Chi is much like the fountain of youth...  Once the movements are learned and practiced daily, Tai Chi activates your hormones, stimulates your immune system, strengthens your heart, trims down your waist, refines your reflexes and balance, and helps you fend off the signs of age.

Tai Chi is like opening a window in a stuffy room. Aaahh!

1. Awaken your energy; bring down your blood pressure
2. Sharpen your mental focus
3. Elongate your muscles, limber up your joints
4. Improve balance and reduce risk of fall and injury
5. Improve circulation

Tai Chi Chuan
Yang Style
Simplified Version 24 Forms

Tai Chi, as it is practiced in the west today, can perhaps be thought of as a moving form of yoga and meditation combined.  There are a number of forms which consist of a sequence of movements.  Many of these movements are originally derived from the martial arts, although the way they are performed in Tai Chi are slow, soft and graceful with smooth and even transitions between them.

Tai Chi offers a gentle, non-aggressive approach to elongating and strengthening our muscles while cultivating the flow of chi (qi), the essence of our breath / life energy, while integrating our Mind, Body, and Spirit.

With this course of the Simplified Version of Yang Style, Tai Chi Chuan, 24 Forms, the student will learn a set of gentle warm up and breathing exercises, and how to perform the 24 forms softly and gracefully, with smooth and even transitions between them.  The art of Tai Chi helps promote good health, longevity, peace of mind and emotional harmony.

At the basic level - Tai Chi accomplishes the following:
-Reduces stress
-Improves health and longevity
-Gives lifelong vitality and stamina
-Enhances physical and intellectual capabilities
-Reduces time from healing injuries
-Regulates and lowers blood pressure
-Provides the body with the movement it needs
-Provides better structural support to the body
-Massages internal organs
-Stretches everything inside the body lengthwise, down to the smallest muscles and ligaments
-Laterally twists soft tissue and gives you access to areas of your body which may normally be difficult to reach and positively affect
-Makes all fluids circulate evenly inside your body
-Increases Chi (energy) flow
-Increases your breathing capacity
-Establishes (and stabilizes) highly efficient biomechanical alignments of the body
-Improves inner discipline
-Opens heart and mind
-Unleashes spiritual potential
-From the perspective of stress, Tai Chi is more about training your central nervous system than muscles. Deep neurological relaxation is more profound than muscular relaxation.  It is an antidote capable of healing all the pervasive damage that anxiety and stress produce and it increases both physical and mental stamina, making you more productive than heaps of caffeine can.
